Three or four hours of festivities are plenty. 

Signal the party's end by removing the food and closing the bar. 

Tell your guests you've put on a pot of coffee "for the road".

Pass out favors to take home (like a small package of homemade cookies or a holiday themed treat bag) and tell guests you're glad they came.
