I was always fascinated by candy making and was pretty good at it. Fudge. Truffles. Peanut brittle. But my first attempts at making chocolate coated, fancy filled Easter eggs was a disaster. Oh, they tasted good but the chocolate coating "bloomed" all over.
When chocolate blooms, the cocoa butter it contains comes out of temper (balance) creating spots all over. Bloom doesn't affect the taste, only the appearance but appearance is everything when it comes to gorgeous looking chocolates. (More.......)

Equipment - one half an egg shaped candy mold
measuring 5 1/2 X 3 3/4 inches with a volume of 1 1/4 cups

Peanut Butter Filling
Ingredients
8 oz. powdered sugar (sifted)
2 sticks butter (softened - margarine not recommended)
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon white vegetable shortening (like Crisco)
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon smooth peanut butter (regular type like Jif - not fresh ground or natural style.)
1 teaspoon salt
