Fill Your Life With Good Taste……And Good Health
Healing Spices
By Karla Jones Seidita, Home Economist
In ancient times, spices were as important medicinally as they were in the kitchen. Adventurers sailed the seas in search of shorter, cheaper, less dangerous spice trade routes.
Today, modern transportation makes spices readily (and cheaply !) available for both the kitchen and the medicine cabinet. We know spices taste good but we’ve forgotten how healing they can be. While not a DIY substitute for proper medical care, enjoying spices as a regular part of a healthy diet can help prevent issues that doctors treat.
The most popular spice in American cuisine is cinnamon. We love the taste in gooey breakfast buns, homemade apple pie and luscious coffee cakes.
But here's the best part In addition to good taste, cinnamon relieves allergies, eases pain, slows bacterial growth, controls blood sugar and helps you relax. That's pretty impressive! (More.......)
