Ask the Home Economist

Q. Some people say that coffee is bad for you because of the caffeine. Some people say it’s good.  Which is it?

A. Good news!

The latest is that a cup or two of coffee (with caffeine) per day is beneficial.

It helps prevent heart problems and reduces that silent health destroyer — inflammation.

But that’s regular, black coffee and not more than about 24 oz. total in a day.

It’s the cream and sugar plus the amount of caffeine that gets you into trouble.

Other questions included in this column………

Q. What is Nitro coffee? It’s all over the internet!

Q. What’s the difference between a Latte and Cafe au Lait?

Q. I LUV cold brew coffee! Can I make it at home?
